§11.4 Indicators & warnings

What an analyst can observe in advance belongs in an event matrix.

Open §11.4 in the academy

The elements in this chapter are all observable indicators — the kind of signal that belongs in an event matrix or threat template within an IPB/IPOE process (see Chapter 8.1 and the Intel Academy):

IndicatorWhat it predicts
New production halls / factory expansion (satellite OSINT)Future growth in employment volume, weeks to months ahead
Garage capacity at a launch baseMaximum wave size possible from that location
Launch activity / vehicle movement at a baseImmediate precursor of an approaching wave (hours to days)
OSINT from spotter channels along the flight pathEarly warning once a wave is actually en route
Origin of critical components (engines, chips)Vulnerability of the supply chain — a point of leverage for sanctions/disruption
Key point

None of these indicators is decisive on its own — exactly as the indicators lesson in Intel Academy teaches: value emerges only when multiple signals coincide. Factory expansion plus increased launch activity plus spotter reports is a very different signal than each alone.
