An Orlan-10 can act as an airborne relay ('mothership'): it relays the control signal of smaller FPVs, extending their effective range to 40+ km — far beyond the FPV's own range.
At the same time, attackers deploy unarmed Gerbera decoys that resemble a real attack drone in signature. Every intercept of such a decoy is a missed chance to stop the real threat — and an expensive interceptor wasted on a cheap lure.
Summary
Motherships extend the reach of the threat; decoys extend the load on the defence. Both are designed to overload the counter-UAS chain from Chapter 6.
